5G Media Streaming Architecture at Fraunhofer FOKUS (Booth 8.B80). 5G-MAG Reference Tools for Media Streaming are supporting the evaluation, testing and demonstration of core functions such as:

• Content Delivery: Efficiently delivers media content to clients, considering factors like network conditions, device capabilities, and QoS requirements.

• QoS Management: Ensures a high-quality streaming experience by managing factors like bitrate, buffering, and packet loss.

• Network Interactions: Communicates with the 5GS to coordinate resource allocation, manage network congestion, and optimize performance.

• Analytics: Collects data on streaming performance to improve service quality and identify optimization opportunities.

5G Broadcast at IEEE BTS "Mobile TV - finally?" and at XGN Network (Booth 14.B18). Demos using the 5G-MAG Reference Tools for 5G Broadcast showing, in particular, seamless switching between unicast CDN-based delivery and 5G Broadcast.

• On the receiver, media files delivered via 5G Broadcast are exposed to a media player such as the Exoplayer via a local webserver. In cases in which no 5G Broadcast is available the Android Middleware fetches the required manifest and media files directly from the CDN via unicast and exposes them again via the local webserver. That way the Android MW can dynamically switch between broadcast and unicast delivery based on the availability of the respective delivery mechanism.

V3C Immersive Platform at 5G-MAG INSIGHTS (Friday 13.09 - Meeting Room G.106 from 16:00 to 17:00). A major contribution by InterDigital and Philips makes available the “V3C Immersive Platform” as part of the 5G-MAG Reference Tools:

• The initial contributions include a V3C Unity Player to visualize, test, and demo content, including support for real-time V-PCC (ISO/IEC 23090-5) and MIV (ISO/IEC 23090-12) rendering on Windows / Android. The release of the open-source repositories helps developers get started with using standardized technologies in the Volumetric Video ecosystem and enables the creation of content and video players that can consume it.

XR Media and MPEG-I Scene Description at 5G-MAG INSIGHTS (Friday 13.09 - Meeting Room G.106 from 16:00 to 17:00). This is the XR Media & MPEG-I Scene Description demos powered by 5G-MAG Reference Tools which will be introduced and explained during 5G-MAG INSIGHTS on FRIDAY 13.09, and shown for interaction with the attendees.

• The XR Media & MPEG-I Scene Description projects are a contribution by Qualcomm and InterDigital, Inc. to the 5G-MAG Reference Tools. MPEG-I Scene Description (SD) is a standard developed by MPEG for representing 3D scenes. It provides a framework for referencing and positioning 2D and 3D assets within a scene, enabling proper rendering and creating immersive experiences. The 5G-MAG Reference Tools are suitable for validating specifications, its glTF2.0 extensions and generating demonstrators.

DVB-I Services over 5G Broadcast at DVB Project (Booth 1.B71). 5G-MAG will be showing a prototype implementation of DVB-I Services over 5G Broadcast at the DVB Project Booth. A first approach to get the work done in the Joint Task Force with DVB tangible.
